About JWS
Christian Vergier is Jeff Welburn’s Meursault-based associate. Enologist, educator and entrepreneur, Christian is a true renaissance man. A graduate of the University of Dijon, he is respected by client vignerons for his knowledge and understanding of their side of the business.
As liaison for JWS, Christian races all over France to monitor the progress of new vintages and check out leads regarding new or emerging vigneron talent. In addition, he is a winery consultant and teaches viticulture, enology and analytical tasting at several of France's best wine schools. Christian is also involved in a vineyard project in Quebec, runs a wine export business for Réunion and Mauritius islands in the Indian Ocean, and Martinique in the French West Indies where he is also a production advisor for internationally recognized rum brands.
This year, Christian launched his own micro-négoce brand focused on specific terroirs in Macon and Beaujolais. JW Selections has already committed to two of his Macon whites and two crus of Beaujolais from the 2009 vintage: Christian Vergier Wines
